2009 HARAI FAMILY REUNION
JULY 10TH, 11TH AND 12TH

Aloha Harai Ohana !!!

It is that time once again !!! The 2009 Harai Family Reunion is just around the corner. The Harai Family Reunion Planning Committee has been organizing and finalizing the planning for our next reunion. We have already selected the location and have worked out the costs of putting on this reunion. Please RSVP so we can put together a head count so we know how many to expect. The Committee members will be staying at the Kona Reef. The Kona Reef does not have a block of Condo's for us to reserve, so please make your arrangements with them or with another Condo/Hotel. Please RSVP by January 31st or as soon as possible, we are trying to determine how many family members will turn out for this.

The 2009 Harai Family reunion will be hosted at the Kona Reef Condominium located at:

Kona Reef
75-5888 Alii Drive
Kailua-Kona, HI 96740
(808) 329-2959

The 2009 Harai Family Reunion will be on the following dates:

Friday July 10th, 2009 - Start time @ 10:00 AM - Welcome Committee BBQ @ Kahaluu State Beach Park. Just check into your Condo/Hotel and join us at the beach. We will provide Snacks, Lunch and Dinner at the Beach.

Saturday July 11th, 2009 - We will provide Breakfast, Snacks, Lunch and Dinner at the Condo's by the pool. We will be hosting various events on this day, if you are interested in any of the events, please let us know in advance so we can place your name on the roster (Especially for Golfing).

The Golf Tournament will be hosted by Bruce Lim. Golfers will meet at a Golf Course to be announced. Additional information including starting times and costs will be provided at a later date.

The Bowling Bash will be hosted by Bev Sato. Bowlers will meet @ 11AM at the Kona Bowl.

The Poker Tournament will be hosted by John Harai. Poker Players will meet @ 9PM at Jimmy Harai's room at the Kona Reef. The buy-in will be $20.00 per person and we will pay out the top four finishers. Texas hold 'em is the most popular poker game in the casinos and poker card rooms across North America and Europe. Hold 'em is a community card game where each player may use any combination of the five community cards and the player's own two hole cards to make a poker hand.

There is also an Obon Festival at the Daifukuji Soto Mission in the evening. We plan on visiting. Obon is one of the most important traditions for Japanese people. It is a Buddhist event and is the period of praying for the repose of the souls of one's ancestors. People believe that their ancestors' spirits come back to their homes to be reunited with their family during Obon. Obon is an important family gathering time and many people return to their hometowns. Featured at Obon is traditional Japanese dancing and taiko drumming.

Sunday July 12th, 2009 - We will provide Breakfast and Snacks at the Condo's by the pool at the Kona Reef. The Harai Family Reunion Banquet will be held @ Kona Daifukuji Soto Mission @ Noon. 09-05-2006 -  Posted pictures of Ets and family.  Ets and Anita Yamada family trips

07-31-2006 -  All the pictures are now posted.  Teshima banquet, Kona Reef condo, Beach, and a few pictures taken at Teshima's restaurant and Fusano's house.

07-16-2006 -  The pictures for the Teshima banquet and Kona Reef condo pictures have been posted.  I still have a few more additions to make, but the majority of the pictures are online.  On each picture page, there is a link to a zip file you can download that contains those pictures.  I have also uploaded the pictures to an online photo printing service (Snapfish.com).  They will let you view the pictures for free, but you must make an account.  You can also order prints from them, which they can mail to you (or use their 1 hour service and it can be sent to select Walgreen stores).  They seem to have the best prices out of the few other online photo printing places I have checked.  Just remember the pictures from the 2006 Reunion have been optimized for 4x6 or 20x30 inch (3:2 ratio) printing.  If you print in other sizes, some parts of the picture may not display.

07-09-2006 -  The beach pictures has been posted.  Click on this link to go directly there:   The 5th Harai Family Reunion .  Other pictures will follow later.  Send an email to kerry@haraifamily.com, and I will send you an email back when all the pictures have been posted.

07-06-2006 -  Some of the 5th Harai Family Reunion pictures will be posted by Friday.
